Summer is the perfect time for a laid-back style and  carefree attitude. Shorts are back in, dresses are flowing and sandals are essential. As an Austinite, I’ve experienced most local hot spots and I’m here for all the sun and spirit this city has to offer.

Blues on the Green

This is the hottest place to be this summer and the biggest free hangout spot where you can dress comfy while listening to tunes with friends. Leave dresses or skirts for other occasions since most of the sitting is on the ground or on a blanket. The temperatures are rising a bit too fast, so tank tops and high waisted shorts are always a good idea! I tend to style tanks with a lacy bralette underneath to add contrast and texture.

Barton Springs Pool

Here’s where you go to cool off. Not only is the water icy cold, but it’s the best spot for friends to lounge around and enjoy the season. Grab your favorite pair of sunnies this summer and you’re in for a real treat. Sunglasses are a great way to make a statement – I’m a big fan of heart-shaped and thin Kardashian-inspired frames. When in doubt, you can never go wrong with a pair of aviators and a waterproof beach bag for the essentials, SPF included.

Zilker Park

Zilker is the destination for dogs playing fetch, picnics under trees, sunshine on the lawn and a good reading session. Throw a solid-colored top on with the stylish french tuck (thanks for the tip Tan France) plus a nice pair of denim shorts for an easy, failproof ensemble. Missing an added detail? Belts do wonders for an outfit and not only add more definition to your body frame, but accentuate waistline features.

Circuit of the Americas

Stopping by COTA’s Austin360 Amphitheater for a late night concert is one thing, but seeing The 1975 English boy band is another. This two-piece Romwe outfit is filled with tassels and has all the signs of summer. An all white outfit that highlights tan lines and fun times especially with these heart-shaped 70’s-inspired frames with white tennis shoes because it’s a long walk to the lawn.

Downtown ATX

When traffic isn’t total madness, my sister and I like to stay active by heading downtown via scooter or walking for a quick lunch date. For a classic oldies look, I’ve been using a bandana as a headband – it’s one tip that’ll never go out of style. Also, choose a pair of patterned shorts to take an outfit to the next level, and don’t forget comfortable shoes!
