We Are Blood

Breakaway PR began working with We Are Blood (WrB) in 2018 when they were seeking a PR firm to raise awareness of the blood bank’s vital health role across its 10-county service area; the ultimate goal is to generate an increase in consistent blood donations for a fast-growing region.
We were charged with developing general messaging, urgent updates and a range of campaign promotions via media relations. At the time, WrB had recently completed a total rebrand (including name change), therefore, wanted to maintain the marketing momentum while clarifying misconceptions of blood donation through targeted stories and donor testimonials.
PR tactics include sharing special promotions via calendar listings, pitching specialized story angles to local media and alerting the local community when supply is dangerously low.
Since May of 2018, our PR program has delivered not only a city proclamation – June 14 is We Are Blood Type Local Day in Austin – but 183 pieces of media coverage with more than two million page views.
